As the son of a Yorkshire lad and an Essex girl,
Ben grew up in Birmingham; It could well be that this
heady cultural mix was what sparked his creativity,
but it's yet to be confirmed...
After studying Fine Art in Edinburgh and photography
in Bournemouth, Ben moved to London 3 years ago to
work as First Assistant to Zed Nelson. Alongside assisting,
he has been committed to shooting his own personal
work, which has led to published pieces in The Fader,
Le Monde and the British Journal of Photography. He
has become recognised for his quietly powerful landscapes
and engaging portraiture.
Ben was recently named as the winner of the BJP/Nikon
Project Assistance Award, a £5000 bursary to complete
a photographic work in progress. He'll be using the
prize money to finish his series "The Brick Business",
a lyrical take on the Spanish construction boom and
its subsequent collapse.
Ben has exhibited work in New York, London, and Edinburgh.
He is represented commercially by the Lisa
Pritchard Agency, London.
